The Belgian Lion, sitting to the left with head reverted to the right and one paw placed on the stone tablet bearing inscription BELGISCHE GRONDWET/CONSTITUTION BELGE 1831. To the left mintmark in the form of staff of Mercury, to the right coat of arms of municipality of Herzele representing mint master Ingrid Van Herzele, below denomination 12 1/2 EURO and quality mark (PP). In the upper part semicircular legend BELGIE-BELGIQUE-BELGIEN.
