At the top, on a mirror surface is Ukraine’s small coat of arms, under which is the inscription – 75 YEARS /VICTORY/ OVER/NAZISM/IN THE SECOND/ WORLD/ WAR. Left on a matt surface are the legends: 2020/UKRAINE /5 HRYVNIAS (inscription hryvnias is vertical); below on a mirror surface is a decorative image of a dove holding an olive branch – a symbol of freedom, peace and victory. Right below is the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.
The reverse of the coin depicts a stylized composition: a vertical barbed wire, which divides the coin conditionally into military part (left) with cracked, torn edges (symbolizing tension, anxiety, pain), against which is the legend - 1939, and peaceful one, where barbed wire sprouts leaves (symbolizing the revival and continuation of life), against which is the legend – 1945
