The obverse also includes a privy mark of a stylized gear, representing industry and innovation. Year of issue 2019, the mintmark and E PLURIBUS UNUM are incused on the edge of the coin.

The reverse design features a silhouette of Annie Jump Cannon against the night sky, with a number of stars visible in the sky. Inscriptions: at the bottom CLASSIFYING THE STARS, below DELAWARE, above and to the right ANNIE JUMP CANNON and semicircular UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
